What Roughout Leather Buys You
Roughout is full-grain leather turned flesh-side out. The tough grain layer faces inward against your foot, and the fibrous side faces the world — where it resists scuffing and abrasion far better than smooth leather, and hides the marks it does take. The Walnut vamp keeps a finished look up front.
Why a Wedge Sole
A wedge puts the whole sole on the ground, spreading your weight with no separate heel to catch on a form edge or a rung. On concrete, decking, and finished floors that's a real advantage. On loose dirt or slopes, a lugged heel grips better.
An All-Around Goodyear Welt
Stitched the full perimeter rather than partway — the most durable and most rebuildable way to attach a sole. Most wedge boots are cemented and end when the sole does. This one goes to a cobbler.
Why Choose the CA7568?
A resoleable, American-made steel-toe wedge on abrasion-resistant roughout leather, comfortable from the first shift.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the CA7568 be resoled?
Yes, repeatedly. An all-around Goodyear welt stitches the outsole to the upper around the full perimeter, so a cobbler can cut the stitching, replace the wedge, and re-stitch it. That's uncommon on a wedge boot.
What's the difference between the CA7568 and the CA7068?
The toe. The CA7568 has a steel safety toe meeting ASTM F2413; the CA7068 is the soft-toe version with no toe cap and no impact rating. Everything else is the same boot.
How do I care for roughout leather?
Brush it rather than washing it. A stiff brush lifts dirt out of the nap; a leather conditioner made for roughout or nubuck will keep it supple without matting the fibers. Don't oil it heavily — that darkens the nap and flattens it.
Are Carolina's union-built boots actually made in the USA?
Yes, with the qualification Carolina states plainly: assembled in their Martinsburg, Pennsylvania factory by members of UFCW Local 1776, using globally sourced components. That's “Made in the USA with global parts.”
