What Makes It a Logger
The raised, tapered heel and aggressive one-piece lug outsole bite into soft ground and hook onto rungs. Underneath, a triple-rib steel shank resists the twist of standing on an edge. It's a boot built for slopes, dirt, and climbing rather than flat concrete.
Dry and Rebuildable
The sealed SCUBALINER™ keeps water out, and welt construction means the sole can be replaced instead of the boot.
Why Choose the CA8823?
Carolina's waterproof Elm logger in a clean black soft-toe build — for work that doesn't require a protective toe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the CA8823 have a safety toe?
No. It's a soft plain-toe boot with no ASTM impact or compression rating, so it won't meet a site requirement for protective footwear. The steel-toe version is the CA9823.
What actually makes a boot a “logger”?
The heel and the shank. A logger has a tall, tapered heel that digs into slopes and catches ladder rungs, an aggressive lug tread, and a stiff shank so your arch doesn't collapse when you're standing on a narrow edge. On flat concrete all day, a wedge sole is more comfortable.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper, so a cobbler can replace the lug sole when the tread wears down.
How long does the waterproofing last?
The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a coating, so it doesn't wash off. Conditioning the leather and keeping the seams clean is what keeps it working over the life of the boot.
