Is there any metal in the boot?
No. The CA8536 uses a non-metallic carbon composite toe and a non-metallic shank, and as a pull-on it has no eyelets or lace hardware.
How is carbon composite different from standard composite?
Both are non-metallic and both meet the same ASTM I/C thresholds. A carbon fiber weave reaches that rating with less material, so the toe cap is lighter and slightly less bulky than a standard composite cap.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper rather than bonding it, so a cobbler can replace it when the tread wears down.
Is it insulated?
The CA8536 is uninsulated, which makes it comfortable across three seasons. For cold work, Carolina builds insulated models rated by gram weight.
