What does a wedge sole actually do?

It runs flat from heel to toe with no separated heel block, so the whole footprint meets the ground at once and spreads your weight instead of driving it through a heel. When is a wedge the wrong choice?

Why do carpenters and roofers wear wedges?

Ladder rungs and flat surfaces. What is the difference between the Amp Lightweight and the classic Georgia Wedge?

Weight and build. The classic Wedge is the traditional heavier moc toe boot; the Amp Lightweight strips weight out for people covering distance on flat ground. Both share the flat outsole. The lighter build wears faster under abrasion, so choose on whether you walk more than you scuff.

Do wedge boots come as pull-ons?

Do wedge soles wear out faster?

They wear differently. The flat sole has more contact area so wear spreads out, but the softer compounds used for comfort abrade faster than a hard lugged sole on rough ground. On concrete, which is what they are built for, they hold up well. On gravel and broken ground they will not.

Do these come with safety toes?
