The Linesman CA904 is a 10" waterproof soft-toe boot built for pole and tower work. Heavy-duty steel right and left linesman shanks carry the load underfoot, and a one-piece Vibram® Austin outsole with a straight-cut heel locks onto rungs and climbing spikes.

Built for Climbing
Separate right and left shanks are contoured for each foot rather than mirrored from one pattern, giving the rigid arch-length support needed to stand on pole gaffs and ladder rungs without the arch collapsing over the bar. The Vibram® Austin outsole's straight-cut heel gives a defined edge to set against a rung.
Dry and Rebuildable
The sealed SCUBALINER™ keeps water out, and welt construction means the Vibram® sole is stitched on — a cobbler can replace it when it wears, so the boot outlives its first outsole.
Why Choose the CA904?
A purpose-built, waterproof, rebuildable linesman boot for utility and tower work — for climbers who want the platform without a safety toe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the CA904 have a safety toe?
No. It's a soft-toe boot with no toe cap and no ASTM impact or compression rating. Many utility crews specify soft-toe climbing boots deliberately, but if your hazard assessment requires a protective toe, choose the composite-toe CA1904.
Why two different shanks instead of one?
A mirrored shank puts the stiff section in the wrong place on one foot. Right- and left-specific shanks put the rigid span directly under each arch, which is what keeps a climber's foot from folding over a gaff or rung across a long stint aloft.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the Vibram® Austin outsole to the upper, so a cobbler can rebuild the boot when the sole wears out. On a boot in this price range, that materially changes the cost of ownership.
Is it insulated?
The CA904 is uninsulated, which keeps it light and workable across three seasons. For cold-weather climbing, Carolina builds insulated models rated by gram weight.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is conducted under dry conditions; moisture, worn outsoles, and conductive debris all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection and never replaces de-energizing a circuit or primary PPE.
