CA3598 or CA3593? The Difference Is Underfoot
Both are 6" waterproof steel-toe Gruntz boots, and the titles look nearly identical. The CA3598 is welted with a rubber lug outsole — a stitched sole a cobbler can replace, on a boot built to be kept for years. The CA3593 is cement-constructed with a heavy-duty outsole — lighter underfoot, more flexible from day one, and easier on the wallet. If you wear through soles before you wear through leather, the CA3598 is the one that lasts.
Why Welt Construction Matters
A welt is a strip of leather stitched through the upper and the insole, with the outsole stitched to it. That seam can be cut and re-stitched, so the boot outlives its first sole — and its second. Buy once, resole twice, and the leather is still yours.
Why Choose the CA3598?
Waterproof, EH rated, steel-toe protection on a resoleable welt — the Gruntz built to be kept.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CA3598 true to size?
Carolina generally runs true to size, order the size you wear in sneakers. Carolina offers the Gruntz in D and 2E; if you're between widths, take the wider one.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper rather than bonding it, so a cobbler can replace the lug sole when the tread wears down. It's the feature that lets a good pair of boots last a decade.
