Frequently Asked Questions
Does this boot have a safety toe?
No, the CA8824 is a soft (plain) toe boot, so it will not meet a site requirement for ASTM-rated protective footwear. For a steel toe, choose the CA9824.
What is a lace-to-toe logger?
The laces run all the way down to the toe, letting you adjust fit across the full front of the boot for a more customized hold. Loggers favour it because it locks the heel back and stops the foot sliding forward on descents.
Is it waterproof?
Yes — via Carolina's sealed SCUBALINER™ membrane, which is a bonded barrier rather than a surface treatment, so it does not wash off with use.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the lug outsole to the upper rather than bonding it, so a cobbler can replace the sole when the lugs wear flat and you keep the leather you have broken in.
What is the kiltie for?
It is the fringed leather flap over the laces, and it keeps chips, sawdust, and grit out of the lacing. It lifts straight off if you would rather go without.
