The Quad CA4525 is a 5" waterproof hiker with a carbon composite fiber safety toe — the lightest safety-toe material Carolina builds, wrapped in a breathable leather-and-mesh upper on an aggressive 4x4 outsole.
Key Features of the Carolina CA4525

Protection Without the Penalty
Carbon fiber weave hits the same I-75/C-75 thresholds as a steel toe while cutting toe-cap weight, and it doesn't pull cold through to your toes the way steel does on a winter morning.
Breathable, Waterproof, Grippy
Mesh panels vent heat, the sealed SCUBALINER™ membrane sits behind them to keep water out, and the 4x4 outsole's multi-directional lugs hold on loose and wet ground.
Why Choose the CA4525?
A genuinely light safety-toe hiker — waterproof, EH rated, and comfortable enough to walk a site in all day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is carbon composite different from regular composite?
Both are non-metallic and both meet ASTM F2413 I/75 and C/75. A carbon fiber weave gets there with less material, so the toe cap is lighter and slightly less bulky than a standard composite cap of the same rating — which is why it shows up on hikers rather than heavy loggers.
What sizes and widths does it come in?
Carolina builds the Quad composite in D and EE widths, sizes 8 through 14, with half sizes through 11½. A women's version of this hiker is offered separately.
Can I put my own orthotics in it?
Yes. The AG7™ footbed lifts out. The CA4525 is EH rated rather than static-dissipative, so swapping the footbed doesn't put an SD rating at risk.
Are the mesh panels still waterproof?
Yes. The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane behind the entire upper, mesh included, so breathability doesn't come at the cost of a wet foot.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is conducted under dry conditions; moisture, worn outsoles, and conductive debris all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection and never replaces de-energizing a circuit or primary PPE.
