A Welt at This Price
A welt is usually the mark of a much more expensive boot. The CA3557 stitches its one-piece outsole through one, so a cobbler can replace the sole when the tread wears down — often more than once over the boot's life.
Dry and Supported
The sealed SCUBALINER™ keeps water out, the Taibrelle lining moves moisture away from the foot, and a steel shank carries the arch on ladders and grating.
Why Choose the CA3557?
A no-nonsense waterproof steel-toe 8" boot that's rebuildable rather than disposable — the cheapest route into a boot you can keep.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Installer be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper rather than cementing it, so the one-piece rubber sole can be replaced when it wears through. Over a few years of daily wear, that usually costs less than a second pair of boots.
Can I use my own orthotics in it?
Yes. The cushion footbed is removable and Carolina lists the boot as compatible with aftermarket insoles and orthotics. The CA3557 is EH rated rather than static-dissipative, so there's no SD rating to compromise by swapping the footbed.
Is it insulated?
The CA3557 is uninsulated, which makes it comfortable across three seasons. For cold-weather work, the Surveyor CA3534 is the insulated counterpart with 400g of Thinsulate™.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is conducted under dry conditions; moisture, worn outsoles, and conductive debris all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection, never a substitute for de-energizing a circuit or primary PPE.
