Carolina builds this boot unlined, so it breathes rather than seals. Leather alone sheds a light shower, and conditioning the upper a few times a year improves its water resistance. If you stand in water, choose a boot with a sealed membrane.
What does the 90-degree heel breast do?
It squares off the front face of the heel instead of tapering it, giving you a defined edge to set against a ladder rung or a roof batten. It's the same reason logger boots use a sharp heel — a rounded heel slides off the bar under load.
Can it be resoled?
