Why Unlined
A lining sits between your foot and the leather. Leaving it out makes the Poplar cooler and more breathable in hot weather, and lets the leather mold to the shape of your foot over time rather than staying separated from it. It's the choice to make when the heat is the hazard.
A Logger Built to Be Rebuilt
Welt construction stitches the one-piece lug outsole to the upper instead of bonding it, so a cobbler can replace the sole when the tread wears down. Paired with a triple-rib steel shank, the Poplar holds its shape across years of hard ground.
Why Choose the CA9053?
A breathable, rebuildable, EH-rated 8" logger for warm-weather work — for anyone who wants the welt and the shank without a safety toe or a membrane.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CA9053 waterproof?
The Poplar is unlined leather, built to breathe rather than to seal. It sheds a light shower, and conditioning the upper a few times a year improves its water resistance. For sustained wet, the waterproof Elm CA8821 uses a sealed SCUBALINER™ membrane.
Does it have a safety toe?
No. This is a soft-toe boot with no toe cap and no ASTM impact or compression rating. It won't satisfy a site requirement for protective footwear.
Can it be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction means the outsole is stitched rather than cemented, so it can be replaced when the lugs wear out — often more than once over the boot's life.
