Lightweight, Versatile Protection
A carbon composite toe protects without steel's weight or cold transfer, and the sealed SCUBALINER™ keeps feet dry across a range of trades.
All-Day Comfort
The removable AG8™ Intelli/Sphere dual-density footbed is Carolina's upgrade over the AG7 — more arch support, and it lifts out if you'd rather use your own.
Why Choose the CA5540?
A lightweight, waterproof, carbon composite-toe boot that works across a range of trades, with nothing metal in its structure to weigh it down.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is carbon composite different from standard composite?
Both are non-metallic and both meet the same ASTM I/C thresholds. A carbon fiber weave reaches that rating with less material, so the toe cap is lighter and slightly less bulky than a standard composite cap — which is why it shows up on boots meant for walking rather than heavy loggers.
Can I use my own orthotics?
Yes. The AG8™ footbed lifts out. The CA5540 is EH rated rather than static-dissipative, so there's no SD rating to compromise by swapping it — unlike its ESD sibling, the CA5541.
How long does the waterproofing last?
The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a surface coating, so it doesn't wash off. Conditioning the leather and keeping the seams clean is what keeps it working over the life of the boot.
Is it insulated?
The CA5540 is uninsulated, which makes it a comfortable three-season boot. For cold work, the 8" CA5547 carries 440g of insulation on the same carbon composite platform.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is performed under dry conditions; moisture, damp leather, and worn outsoles all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection — never a substitute for de-energizing a circuit or using primary PPE.
