When Is a Lace-Up the Better Choice?

Choose a lace-up when your work involves ladders, scaffolding, or a lot of climbing and kneeling. Laces let you tighten across the instep so your heel stays seated on a rung instead of lifting. Carpenters, electricians, mechanics, and linemen tend to run lace-ups for exactly that reason.

What Toe Options Do Justin Lace-Ups Come In?

This collection includes steel, Justin's Nano Composite, alloy, and soft toes. Steel gives the slimmest profile for its level of protection. Nano Composite is non-metallic and doesn't pull heat or cold the way steel does, though some boots still use a steel shank, so check the individual model if you need a fully non-metallic boot. Alloy sits in between: a metal cap that meets the same ASTM F2413 standard at lower weight, as on the Crafton and the Corbett.

What Heights Do These Boots Come In?

Heights run 4", 5", 6", 8", and 10". The 4" and 5" moc-toe styles suit shop floors and trades where a tall shaft gets in the way. Six-inch models like the Maxwell and the Dayworker are the general-purpose pick. Eight- and ten-inch boots, including the Pulley, Rivot, and Ram, give more ankle coverage, and both the Ram and the Maxwell are built on a Goodyear welt.
