Is 6 inches tall enough for work?

What is Rugged Flex?

Carhartt's flexible construction platform, built to let the boot move with the foot rather than resisting it. The practical effect is a much shorter break-in than a traditional stiff work boot, which is the main reason to choose it. It runs across a large part of the 6-inch range.

Wedge or lugged sole?

Decide on the ground. A wedge runs flat from heel to toe so the whole footprint meets the ground, which spreads weight on concrete and grips a ladder rung along its full width. What is the Insite footbed?

Carhartt's contoured insole, shaped to support the arch and spread load across the footbed rather than concentrating it at the heel and ball. It is a comfort component rather than a protective one. Like any footbed it compresses over time and can be replaced with an aftermarket insole once it flattens.

Do Carhartt boots run true to size?

Generally close to true to size. Widths run medium and wide across most of the line. If you are between sizes, get the width right before changing the length, since width is usually what causes the problem rather than length.

What toe options are available at this height?

Are these waterproof?

How long do they take to break in?

The Rugged Flex models are comfortable within a few shifts, since flexibility is what the platform is built for. The traditional heavier builds take one to two weeks. Wear them in shorter stretches over the first week rather than a full shift on day one.
