American Crafted for American Craftsmen
Over ten years after the original Quarry became a staple for workers around the country, Danner brought its manufacturing to the Portland, Oregon factory and made major improvements to comfort and durability along the way. This version adds 400G Thinsulate™ Ultra insulation, a composite safety toe, and a cold-weather-tuned outsole to the nubuck-leather Quarry — built specifically for winter job sites.
Key Features of the Danner Quarry USA 8" Insulated Composite Toe 17321
-
400G Thinsulate™ Ultra Insulation: High-performance insulation that keeps you warm in snow and rain without weighing you down.
-
Composite Safety Toe (NMT): A non-metallic toe that meets ASTM F2413 for impact and compression resistance and won't trigger metal detectors.
-
Nubuck Leather Upper: Top-grain leather sanded for a slight nap and velvet-like feel — extremely durable, with a shorter, more comfortable break-in than smooth full-grain leather.
-
Waterproof GORE-TEX® Liner: A 100% waterproof, breathable liner keeps water out while letting sweat and moisture escape.
-
Vibram® Quarry Fire & Ice Outsole: A cold-weather-tuned version of the Quarry outsole, built for superior traction in extreme cold and hot environments with a 90-degree heel and non-linear lug pattern.
-
Triple-Stitched Construction: Hyper-strong thread reinforces the boot's toughest stress points.
-
610 Last: Danner's most universal last, with a snug heel and ample toe room for a versatile fit across foot shapes.
-
Electrical Hazard (EH) Rated: Non-conductive soles help protect against electrical shock in dry conditions under ASTM F2413.
Built for Winter Job Sites
This is the cold-weather Quarry: 400G Thinsulate Ultra insulation for warmth, a fully waterproof GORE-TEX liner, and a Vibram Quarry Fire & Ice outsole specifically engineered for traction in extreme cold (and hot) conditions — a different compound than the standard Vibram Quarry outsole on the rest of the family.
Made in the USA, and Recraftable
Danner sources materials from around the world and finishes each pair by hand in Portland, Oregon — the “Made in USA with imported components” approach that keeps the price reasonable without giving up build quality. Thanks to stitchdown construction, the boot is eligible for part replacement, leather care, and restitching through Danner's recrafting program.
Why Choose the Danner Quarry USA 8" Insulated Composite Toe 17321?
If you work outdoors in the cold and need certified safety-toe protection, this is it. 400G insulation, GORE-TEX waterproofing, a composite toe rated to ASTM F2413, and a cold-weather-specific outsole come together in a boot built for winter job sites.

Frequently Asked Questions
How warm is the 400G insulation?
400G Thinsulate Ultra is a moderate insulation weight — enough for genuinely cold conditions and snow without making the boot bulky or overly warm for lighter activity.
What's different about the Fire & Ice outsole?
It's a version of the Vibram Quarry outsole specifically engineered for traction in extreme cold and hot environments, rather than the standard Vibram Quarry compound used on the rest of the family.
Does this boot have a safety toe?
Yes. It has a composite safety toe (NMT) that meets ASTM F2413 for impact and compression resistance, plus electrical hazard (EH) protection under the same standard.
Can this boot be resoled or recrafted?
Yes. Its stitchdown construction makes it eligible for Danner's recrafting program, including part replacement, leather care, and restitching.
