What the Align™ Footbed Does
Most insoles cushion. This one is shaped to place the foot in a more optimal position, which Carolina reports helps reduce back ache, muscle and joint fatigue, and knee and hip pain over a long shift. If you stand for ten hours on tile or concrete, the geometry underfoot matters more than the padding.
ESD, and What It Means
An electrostatic dissipative shoe conducts static charge off your body and into the floor at a controlled rate. That protects sensitive electronics from discharge and reduces ignition risk around vapor and powder. It is not electrical hazard (EH) protection — an EH shoe insulates you from a live circuit, which is the opposite property.
A Clog for Standing Work
No laces to trail on a clean floor, no eyelets, and you step in and out in a second. It's the traditional shape for kitchens, labs, and hospital floors for exactly those reasons.

Does the CA5061 have a safety toe?
No. Carolina builds the CA5061 as a soft-toe clog — no toe cap, and no ASTM impact or compression rating. It will not satisfy a site requirement for protective footwear. It is a comfort and ESD shoe. If you need a composite toe with a static rating, look at the Flywt CA1982.
Is there metal in the shoe?
The shank is non-metallic, and as a clog there are no eyelets or lace hardware. There's no safety toe cap either, so nothing metal in the toe.
Can I replace the footbed with my own orthotic?
You can, but you'd be removing the reason to buy this shoe — the Align™ footbed is its central feature. In an ESD environment, any replacement insole must itself be static-dissipative, and even then the shoe may no longer test ESD.
How do I look after ESD footwear?
Keep the outsoles clean and free of insulating buildup, and follow Carolina's care guidance for the style. Where a workplace requires a verified reading, footwear is typically tested periodically rather than assumed.
How should a clog fit?
There are no laces to take up slack, so getting the size right matters more than on a lace-up. If you're between sizes, size down rather than up — a clog that's too long lifts at the heel with every step.
