Ironhide EZ Entry Comp Toe Waterproof Hiker
Ironhide is a men's mid-cut hiker shoe designed to be lightweight and easy to put on with its EZ entry cinchable elastic lacing system. Featuring a composite safety toe cap, it is waterproof with SCUBALINER™ technology, making it suitable for outdoor activities. The shoe is also slip-resistant, and has an oil-resistant rubber outsole and a non-metallic shank. The Utopia Aztec leather and mesh upper provide breathability and comfort, while the mesh lining and EVA midsole offer additional cushioning. The shoe has a removable dual-density EVA footbed and comes with additional traditional laces. It is electrical hazard rated and is constructed with cement for durability.

-
Utopia Aztec Leather & Mesh Upper — Breathable, with leather where the boot takes abuse.
-
Waterproof SCUBALINER™ & Ultra Dry Waterproofing System — Carolina's sealed proprietary lining.

-
Cement Construction & Oil- and Slip-Resisting Rubber Outsole — A bonded sole that keeps the boot light and flexible.
Two Lacing Systems in One Box
The elastic cinch system gets you in and out fast and holds an even tension across the foot — useful if you're on and off equipment, or in and out of a clean area, through the day. Carolina includes conventional laces as well, so you can set it up however you actually work.
A Hiker That Passes as a Work Boot
Mid-cut, mesh-paneled, and light enough for a trail — with a composite safety toe, an EH rating, and a slip-resisting outsole. If your work moves between a site and a truck and a yard, this covers all three without the weight of a full work boot.
Why Choose the CA5553?
Waterproof, EH rated, composite-toe protection in a mid-cut hiker you can get into in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the EZ entry lacing work?
An elastic lace runs through the eyelets to a cinch lock. You pull it tight, the lock holds it, and the elastic keeps even tension as your foot moves. There's no tying and no loose ends. Standard laces are included if you'd rather have them.
Is there metal in the boot?
The toe cap is composite and the shank is non-metallic. Carolina does not publish the material of the eyelets or the lacing cinch, so if you need a fully metal-free boot for a detector-controlled access point, confirm before ordering rather than assuming.
Why a composite toe over steel?
Both meet the same ASTM impact and compression thresholds. Composite weighs less — which is the point of a hiker — and transfers far less cold into the toe box.
How long does the waterproofing last?
The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a surface coating, so it doesn't wash off. Keep the mesh panels clean and condition the leather to keep it working over the life of the boot.
How does cement construction affect the boot?
The outsole is bonded directly to the upper rather than stitched through a welt, which keeps this hiker light and lets it flex from the first day, with no break-in underfoot.
