Where the Gruntz Line Sits
Gruntz is Carolina's workhorse collection — waterproof, EH rated, unfussy, and priced below the welted lines. The CA3093 is the entry point: everything the steel-toe versions have, minus the toe cap.
Built Light and Flexible
Cement construction bonds the sole directly to the upper, which keeps the boot light and lets it flex with your foot from the first day — no break-in period underfoot. Combined with the soft toe, it's one of the easiest boots in the Gruntz line to spend ten hours in.
Why Choose the CA3093?
Waterproof, EH rated, genuinely comfortable — for wet work where nothing is falling on your feet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CA3093 true to size?
Carolina generally runs true to size — order the size you wear in sneakers, unlike Red Wing or Thorogood, which tend to run large. Carolina offers the Gruntz in D and 2E; if you're between widths, take the wider one.
Does it have a safety toe?
No. The CA3093 is a soft-toe boot with no protective toe cap, so it does not meet ASTM F2413 impact and compression requirements. The CA3593 does.
Is it insulated?
The CA3093 is waterproof and uninsulated, which makes it a comfortable three-season boot. If you need winter warmth, Carolina builds insulated models rated by gram weight.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is performed under dry conditions; moisture, damp leather, and worn outsoles all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection — never a substitute for de-energizing a circuit or using primary PPE.
