This Men’s 8" Waterproof Comp Toe Wedge Work Boot is a sturdy and durable work boot designed for tough working conditions.
A composite safety toe and non-metallic shank keep it light, the SCUBALINER™ keeps it dry, and welt construction means the polyurethane Airthrust™ wedge outsole can be replaced rather than the boot.
Key Features of the Carolina CA7842
-
Composite Safety Toe — A non-metallic toe meeting ASTM F2413 for impact (I/75) and compression (C/75), with reduced cold transfer.
-
Brown Leather Upper — Durable full-grain leather with an 8" shaft for ankle support.
-
Waterproof SCUBALINER™ — Carolina's sealed proprietary waterproof lining system.
-
Removable AG8™ Intelli/Sphere Dual-Density Footbed — An update to the AG7, with enhanced arch support.
-
Non-Metallic Shank — Composite support with no steel in it.
-
Electrical Hazard Rated — Tested to withstand up to 18,000 volts at 60Hz for one minute without leakage.
-
Welt Construction — Stitched, not bonded; fully resoleable.
-
Airthrust™ Polyurethane Wedge Outsole — Oil- and slip-resisting, with even weight distribution across the sole.
Why a Wedge Sole
A wedge puts the whole sole on the ground, spreading your weight with no separate heel to catch on a form edge or a rung. On concrete, decking, and finished floors that's a real advantage — which is why wedges dominate framing, concrete, and warehouse work. On loose dirt or slopes, a lugged heel grips better.
A Welted Wedge, Which Is Rare
Most wedge boots are cemented, so when the sole wears through the boot is finished. This one is welted: the outsole is stitched to the upper and a cobbler can replace it. On a boot you'll wear on concrete every day, that's what decides how many years you get.
Light, Without Giving Up the Rating
A composite toe and a composite shank carry the full ASTM toe rating with no steel in the boot's structure — which is much of why an 8" waterproof welted boot can feel like this one does at the end of a shift.
Why Choose the CA7842?
Waterproof, EH rated, resoleable, composite-toe protection on a wedge — for construction, utilities, warehouse, and facilities work on hard floors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the CA7842 be resoled?
Yes. Welt construction stitches the wedge outsole to the upper rather than bonding it, so a cobbler can replace it when the tread wears down. That's uncommon on a wedge boot.
Is there metal in the boot?
The toe cap is composite and the shank is non-metallic. Carolina does not publish the lace hardware material, so if you need a fully metal-free boot for a detector-controlled access point, confirm before ordering rather than assuming.
Why a composite toe over steel?
Both meet the same ASTM impact and compression thresholds. Composite weighs less — worth having on an 8" welted boot — and transfers far less cold into the toe box.
How long does the waterproofing last?
The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a surface coating, so it doesn't wash off. Conditioning the leather and keeping the seams clean is what keeps it working over the life of the boot.
Is it insulated?
The CA7842 is waterproof and uninsulated, which makes it comfortable across three seasons. For cold work, Carolina builds insulated models rated by gram weight.
Does the EH rating still apply when the boots are wet?
Treat it as reduced. EH testing is performed under dry conditions; moisture, damp leather, and worn outsoles all degrade insulation. EH footwear is secondary protection — never a substitute for de-energizing a circuit or using primary PPE.
