Preguntas frecuentes

Most sites require an ASTM F2413 rated toe at minimum, and many add puncture resistance because of exposed rebar tie wire and dropped fasteners. Some specify metatarsal protection where heavy materials are handled. The requirement comes from your employer's hazard assessment rather than a single national rule, so check your site's PPE policy and match the codes on the boot's tongue label to it.

Six inches covers most general construction and stays flexible for ladders, kneeling, and crawl spaces. Eight inches is the answer when you work in mud, on grade and excavation, or anywhere debris gets into a shorter boot. If you have emptied gravel out of your boots at lunch, that is the signal. Compare our 6 inch and 8 inch ranges.

On demolition, site cleanup, and anywhere with exposed fasteners or rebar tie wire, it is one of the most under-specified protections there is. A safety toe does nothing for a nail through the sole, and the PR rating is tested separately from the toe codes. If you walk ground littered with material you cannot see, it is worth having. See our puncture resistant boots range.

It depends on your ground more than on your trade. A lugged sole cuts through mud and loose material and grips broken ground. A wedge sole spreads weight and grips ladder rungs edge to edge, which is why finish trades and roofers favor it. If you work both, a moderate lug with a defined heel is the usual compromise. See our wedge sole work boots range.

Both meet the same ASTM F2413 rating, so choose on weight, temperature, and screening. Steel is cheapest and thinnest. Composite and carbon are lighter and do not conduct cold, which matters on outdoor winter work. Note that a composite toe alone does not make a boot metal-detector safe, since the shank and any puncture plate are separate components.

A year to eighteen months on cemented boots under daily site wear, and several years on a welted boot you resole. Construction is hard on uppers, so full-grain leather earns its cost here more than in most trades. The outsole and the sole bond usually fail before the upper does on a cemented boot, which is the case for buying welted if you go through a pair a year.

If you work outdoors year round, yes, since wet feet on a cold site end a shift fast. Remember a waterproof boot only protects to its collar, so if you stand in water rather than walk through it, height matters more than the membrane. Waterproof status is stated in every product title. See our full waterproof work boots range.

Look at the midsole rather than the toe or the brand. A cushioned polyurethane or EVA midsole absorbs impact before it travels into your heel and lower back, and a flat wedge outsole spreads your weight instead of concentrating it under a heel. Removable footbeds let you fit an orthotic. If you are already dealing with heel pain, see our plantar fasciitis work boots range.

Timberland PRO and Wolverine lead on cushioning and out-of-the-box comfort. Thorogood and Carolina lead on USA-made welted construction you can rebuild. Ariat and Georgia cover the value end, and Matterhorn is the specialist where met guards and puncture plates are on the spec sheet. Filter by brand within this collection to compare directly.

Yes, most of this range is offered in EE alongside standard D, with 4E and wider on selected models. Width matters more than length if a boot pinches across the ball of your foot, and more still on a rated boot, since a safety cap cannot stretch the way soft leather can. See our full wide fit work boots range.
